NOTICE OF ANNUAL BUSINESS MEETING on NOVEMBER 21, 2020
 

Due to the coronavirus pandemic many PCA events are being cancelled or postponed. Organisers of PCA National, Zone 1 and Region events are following the directives of their government and medical authorities, as well as monitoring the availability of the relevant venues and facilities. With the health and safety of our members as our highest priority, club events will only proceed if permitted by the external authorities and if appropriate safety measures can be deployed.

Zone 1 Concours & Rally

Driving along on the Zone 1 Gimmick Rally was a perfect way to enjoy the pretty scenery and north shore villages of Long Island, NY. But it was more than just a leisurely drive because participants were pitting their wits against those of the fiendish Rally Master, who had compiled a list of sneaky clues along the route that were so easy to misinterpret. After the rally we could only admire his ingenuity as we groaned on hearing the correct answers to the clues. Gimmick Rallies are so much fun as they test our powers of observation and ability to interpret clues. Thanks to Metro New York region’s Rally Master, Rich Moores, for planning the route and creating such wickedly clever clues, and to him and his wife, Brenda, for hosting the post-rally lunch at their lovely home.

The gently sloping lawns of the Vanderbilt Mansion on Long Island provided an ideal setting for the 39th Zone 1 Concours. A hot summer’s day, dozens of fabulous Porsches, crowds of spectators and a view over the water, plus the delicious smell of sizzling burgers wafting from the food truck, made this a memorable concours in a spectacular location. There’s no more enjoyable way to learn about all the different Porsche models and eras. Save the dates of September 20-22, 2019 for our upcoming Zone 1 Concours at the Shawnee Inn Resort on the Delaware River (details).

 

Zone 1 Autocross

What a safe, inexpensive and fun way to improve your driving skills. Autocross is also a great social event as participants share tips, compare times and chat between runs. This year’s 33rd? Zone 1 Autocross, about an hour north west of Boston, attracted members from six regions to develop and test their skills on the cone covered 0.8 mile course of the Moore Army Airfield. Thanks go to North Country region for hosting the event and congratulations to them for winning the regional competition trophy.
